AI recruiter Alex lands $17M to transform job interviews

Alex, an American startup building an AI recruiter, has raised $17 million in a Series A round to scale its automated interview technology. Founded 18 months ago by Aaron Wang, the project is already working with large corporations, including Fortune 100, financial institutions, restaurant chains and the Big 4.
His AI assistant conducts thousands of video and phone interviews every day — from checking experience and salary expectations to basic assessments of a candidate’s suitability. “A 10-minute conversation gives you much more data about a person than a LinkedIn profile,” Wang explains.
Investors See Inevitability
The round was led by Peak XV Partners, with participation from Y Combinator, Uncorrelated Ventures, and several Fortune 500 CHROs. Last year, the company raised $3 million in a seed round from 1984 Ventures.
Alex’s competitors include young players HeyMilo, ConverzAI, and Ribbon. Mercor, which is currently preparing a $10 billion round, also started out as an AI recruiter.
What’s next?
Alex’s goal is to build a database of candidate profiles that will become an alternative to LinkedIn. If the startup achieves its goal, it could completely reshape the job search market: from manual screening to fully automated interviews that collect data for hiring in real time.
