US Senators Seek Answers on Binance and Trump Dealings

Share

Senator Elizabeth Warren and several other Democrats wrote a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi. They want to understand the current situation with Binance and the progress of compliance negotiations.

Binance is considered the largest crypto exchange and is under investigation in the US for billions of dollars. In the letter, the senators mentioned rumors that the Donald Trump administration may ease pressure on the company.

Another topic is the Trump family’s possible financial ties to Binance through World Liberty Financial. Warren, along with Richard Blumenthal and Mazie Hirono, are asking for clear answers, including whether a pardon is being discussed for the exchange’s former CEO, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.

Two years ago, Binance already reached a settlement with US authorities after facing charges related to sanctions and a weak anti-money laundering system. CZ then pleaded guilty, resigned, and received a short prison sentence.

Rumors of its possible return have heightened interest in the BNB token. Its price surpassed $1,000 for the first time, and it entered the top five largest cryptocurrencies.

The Binance saga has been going on for a long time. It all began before Trump took office. Now, with the new administration, the government’s stance has shifted: there’s more talk about developing the crypto market and less talk of bans.

Trump seeks to fire Lisa Cook from Fed

Trump is increasing pressure on the Federal Reserve, seeking to remove Lisa Cook before the rate meeting. US President Donald Trump has asked a Washington appeals court to allow him to fire Federal Reserve Board member Lisa Cook. The White House says she is facing mortgage fraud allegations.

The court hearing is scheduled before the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for September 16-17. A lower court previously blocked the administration’s attempt to remove Cook. Trump is now seeking a temporary overturn of that decision through the Justice Department.

If the appeal is denied, the president intends to take the matter to the Supreme Court.
